Ing. Luis S. Garza Salinas

Relevant Experience: As a Consultant for industry in Mexico, Luis has been working in the design, implementation and certification of quality and environmental management systems. He has been the developer and participated as Instructor in Lead Assessor courses in ISO14000 Environmental Management Systems and in the developing, coordination and as Instructor in several training courses for ISO/QS-9000. He is an author and presented several ISO 14000 and ISO 9000 related papers and has completed ANSI-RAB Accredited EMS Lead Auditor training. Ing. Garza Salinas has worked in industry for almost 40 years, including the design and implementation of the Environmental Quality Function according to BS-7750 and in the liquid, gas and solid waste treatment and disposal services.

In 1994 Luis began working in the ISO 14000 arena as a natural move to the management of the environmental issues of a large corporation, after the successful accreditation of the quality management system according to ISO 9002. The Environmental Quality Function of the corporation was designed and implementation started according to BS-7750, which was one of the main environmental standards at that time. Since 1995 Luis acted as a consultant to the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) to define and conduct training programs for local industry regarding Environmental Management Systems.

In 2001 Luis successfully completed a one and a half year long project managing the development and implementation of EMS programs at 3 Daimler Chrysler manufacturing operations in Mexico. These programs were developed in conformance with ISO 14001 and integrated with the Quality and the Health & Safety programs at each facility.

Luis Garza Salinas holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnologico Y De Estudios Superiores De Monterrey (Monterrey, N.L. Mexico) and is a registered consultant (RCCT-E00299) to the Mexico’s Consejo Nacional De Ciencia Y Tecnologia (CONACYT).
