Daimler Chrysler Corporation
Project Summary: Staff members of Sierra Services worked as a subcontractor to implement ISO 14001 at the Kokomo Transmission Plant and managed the implementation at the Kokomo Casting Plant. These staff members were responsible for project management, technical implementation, training and auditing for the 2-year project. The EMS was completely integrated with Daimler Chrysler’s QS 9000 Quality Management System.
The Kokomo facilities are among the most complex manufacturing plants for Daimler Chrysler, encompassing 3 million square feet of manufacturing space and employing more than 6,000 employees. The facility earned Certification in September 2001 with only 3 minor nonconformances.
Ford Motor Company Facilities
Project Summary: For three years, members of Sierra Services staff were responsible for providing EMS technical resources and managing 10 EMS auditors in support of the ISO 14001 3rd Party conformity assessment efforts at Ford Motor Company facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The staff members worked under a contract with Ford’s ANSI-RAB Accredited EMS Registrar, the British Government’s Vehicle Certification Agency.
The conformity assessment involved the evaluation of the complete environmental management system against the ISO 14001 specifications. This evaluation also included preparing reports and making recommendations to the VCA Registration Board on the registration of the Ford facilities.
Project Summary: Over an 18 month period, members of Sierra Services staff worked to provide various ISO 14001 training courses and implementation consulting services for the network of 150 worldwide Eaton facilities.
This project involved the development of an EMS Implementation Guidance Manual. The manual included core EMS procedures, Microsoft Project implementation schedule with flow charts, environmental aspects evaluation matrix, internal auditing program, awareness level training presentation along with a variety of level three documentation and forms required to implement the EMS programs.
INTAC Automotive Products, Inc.
Project Summary: Sierra Services provided the client with turnkey training and implementation support. Support for this project was provided at the plant level with this small, highly automated Chemical products manufacturer. This support included attending cross functional team meetings to develop a facility wide roll-out of ISO 14001. Support also included providing two days of ISO 14001-implementation training and two days of internal auditor training, followed by an onsite internal audit. The project demanded that Sierra Services staff work closely with and help manage a cross section of plant managers, supervisors and production employees. The final EMS manual for the facility has been integrated into their QMS and OHS management systems. All documentation has been designed to be available on their local area network (LAN) as a web based ISO 14001 EMS. The facility successfully passed its Registration audit with NO nonconformances in March 2003.
Project Summary: Staff members at Sierra Services implemented ISO 14001 at this healthcare manufacturer’s Lakewood, Colorado facility. These EMS professionals were responsible for project management, technical implementation, training and auditing. They also managed the development of a software program to track environmental performances at the facility. The EMS was partially integrated within the company’s ISO 9000 quality management system.
Project Summary: Staff members of Sierra Services implemented ISO 14001 and a health and safety management system based off OHSAS 18001 at this Colorado facility. Scope of work included development of system documentation, training, auditing, compliance evaluations and coaching. DOVatron Manufacturing was one of the first 5 facilities certified to ISO 14001 in the State of Colorado.
The Longmont, Colorado facility employs 300 employees. The project’s main objective was to integrate the new EHS system into the existing ISO 9002 quality management system.
Borg Warner Automotive
Project Summary: Sierra Services has conducted a variety of training courses for this major automotive manufacturer. These courses have included: EMS Lead Auditor training, ISO 14001 Implementation and Internal Auditor training. We have trained personnel at over 15 Borg Warner facilities nationwide. As a follow up to our successful training programs, Sierra Services has provided gap analysis services and compliance auditing at various Borg Warner facilities.
Honda Manufacturing Facilities

Project Summary: Staff members of Sierra Services provided training and consulting on the development of the ISO 14001 EMS framework at this major manufacturer in Indiana. This project assisted the facility in developing an effective program that was integrated with its quality management system. The scope of the project included, but was not limited to, the identification of environmental aspects, environmental policy development critical review of objectives/targets, and the development of operational controls, training, internal auditing functions, etc. The project also included providing an in-house ANSI/RAB Lead Auditor course for the ISO 14001 EMS Steering Committee.
U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Command
Project Summary: Staff members of Sierra Services provided ISO 14001 training and implementation services to the TACOM facility outside Detroit Michigan. This project involved the completion of a 16 hour auditor training course along with a one day on-site audit exercise with two audit teams.
Following successful completion of the above, the project scope was expanded to include providing TACOM with full EMS implementation services and the sale & service of a Web Based Implementation software application.
